Criminal defense: Daycare worker in Alabama accused of abuse

An employee of a daycare in Dothan is facing multiple serious charges that could see her career in child care come to an end, according to local sources. The 36-year-old Alabama woman stands accused of multiple counts of child abuse. She has been arrested and is now being held against $360,000 bail. Understandably, her focus will now shift to preparing her criminal defense.

According to the report filed by Dothan Police Department, the 36-year-old woman was in charge of a classroom of fewer than 10 children. The complaint alleges the woman would utilize physical force by applying pressure to the children’s necks and shoulders to make them comply. Apparently, this alleged issue came to light when several parents complained their children were coming home with bruises.

Police say these alleged events were supposed to have taken place from Aug. 2020 to the date of her arrest. The woman now faces six separate charges of aggravated child abuse. The facility where she worked has not been publicly identified to protect the anonymity of the children.

Of course, child abuse charges are extremely serious for anyone, but in the case of this Alabama woman, it could mean she will never work with children again. She may also face jail time for her alleged abuse, which is why it is so important for her to be represented by a criminal defense attorney when she faces these charges in court. An attorney will be able to review the facts of the case, including any statements from other employees or the children themselves, in order to build a compelling case in her defense.
